Honesty is Always The Best Policy - Especially With Yourself
Some stunning revelations from Bible study this morning.
I'm using Beth Moore's "90 Days With The Beloved Deciple John".
This morning the topic was Judas.
How do we not become the man who sold his soul to the devil for 30 pieces of silver?
To me, it's clearly HONESTY. I don't mean being honest with others - though that's certainly important - I mean honesty with YOURSELF. When you betray yourself to yourself, you'll betray yourself to -and for - anyone.
Rarely anymore (I blame technology combined with human nature's need to be amused while protecting its psyche from pain and discomfort) do we look inward for our problems. We always seem to pin blame to whatever shiny object we see OUTSIDE ourselves. We don't make enough quiet time anymore to sit and contemplate ourselves, our thoughts and feelings.
Only INTROSPECTION in good HONEST doses will keep us in line with God's will for us.
We'll never find answers outside ourselves - only by looking inward and hearing the still small voice of God will we conquer our human nature and become true followers of Christ.
